This Morning

I woke up today and thought about how difficult it is to buy a home.

Mortgage interest rates and fees drown the average person under a payment that’s impossible to get approved for, and even more impossible to pay over time.

Young couples struggle to get a home, and many settle for renting an apartment. They lose their privacy, and don’t get to experience having their own space with a yard around their home, for them or their children. They never end up owning anything.

There must be another way to approach this. There must be a way to have a home of their own.

Purchasing Land

With some determination, anyone can save some money and purchase property to build. Maybe the location will not be in the most exclusive area of town, or even in the town where you work or shop. However the benefits of purchasing the land with cash will be immediately obvious. The first day you step onto your property after signing the closing papers, you can breathe deeply and enjoy the feeling of complete ownership. Your mind can look forward to the next step of building, instead of being burdened with years of payments.

Sometimes a family member may own land, and be willing to sell a portion to you by subdividing. This is also a good option in many situations.

Build It Yourself

Here comes the good part. Building your own home.

To begin this process, you will need a set of plans. The plans will give you a vision of what you’re intending to build. View our collection of Tiny House Plans as a starting point.

The plans will also be used to create a list of needed building materials. Most lumber yards can create this material list for you based on our PDF plans.

Once you know what materials you need, these can be purchased using your available cash in small increments as needed.

Many people have building skills, and almost everyone has friends or family members who are in construction. Get these people together and exchange work on each other’s homes. When working together, a small house can be dried-in within a few days. Tasks that are very difficult or unfamiliar can be hired out to a trusted subcontractor (using your available cash). Each step of construction is achievable, and very rewarding when completed.

No Monthly Payment

Joy in your heart when you awake each morning, and have no house payment. Amazing! Freedom to pursue other things in your life, and not slaving away to pay back the bank.

Think about it. Plan it out. Pray for God’s provision. Go do it.
